Healthy Snacks

It is so important for students to have a healthy snack at school. Students are better able to focus and concentrate in class when they are not hungry. Healthy items like cheese, fruit, or a granola bar are excellent choices. Hot Cheetos, candy, and donuts are nice treats for home.

Homemade Trail Mix

Skip the pre-made trail mix and make your own. Use your favorite nuts and dried fruits, such as unsalted peanuts, cashews, walnuts, or sunflower seeds mixed with dried apples, pineapple, cherries, apricots, or raisins. Add whole-grain cereals to the mix too.

Add more vegetables to your day

It's easy to eat more vegetables! Eating vegetables is important because they provide vitamins and minerals and most are low in calories. To fit more vegetables in your day, try them as snacks and add them to your meals.  Sip on some vegetable soup Heat it and eat it. Try tomato, butternut squash, or garden vegetable soup. Look for reduced- or low sodium soups. Make your own soups with a low-sodium broth and your favorite vegetables.
